It’s Snowing!

AT LAST… it’s been a long time coming this autumn but finally the snow has started to fall across the Alps and it’s making up for lost time in a big way. It’s absolutely dumping and more is forecast over the next few days; it’s settling on solid cold ground and promising a fabulous base for the winter.

TIGNES - Conditions up to now have been good in the high areas & glacier but with fewer slopes open than usual for this time of year. That’s all about to change, finally it’s dumping! The terrace at Chalet Hotel Les Melezes in Tignes Les Boisses at 1900m is covered this morning. See the photo…

Les Melezes

DOLOMITI SUPERSKI - Kronplatz has had several runs open since the last weekend of November & several more opened this weekend. A light snowfall last night has improved conditions & more is forecast over the next couple of days. Alta Badia has a few runs open, as does Cortina, & Val Gardena.

We still have some availability for a white Christmas in the Italian Dolomites, Tignes or Paradiski, either for a full weeks stay or for a short ski break!

Snow has fallen in Tignes, Espace Killy & has covered the whole area including Les Boisses (1900m).

Autumn Ski & Board Camp guests staying at Chalet Hotel Les Melezes are today enjoying superb fresh snow on the Grand Motte glacier as well as perfect blue skies.

Early snow falls on the Alps

Snow fell across the alps yesterday, and fell heavily in Tignes. We’ve even had 4cm down in Tignes Les Boisses. This is GREAT NEWS for the Opening Weekend of the Ski & Board Camp as this heavy snowfall means conditions should be excellent when the Grand Mott Glacier opens on 1st October. Our guests will be among the first on the mountain, with brand new 2012 equipment … while our chef spends the day sweating it out in the kitchen preparing a special gala dinner for Saturday night to celebrate the start of our season.

Fresh snow in Tignes

Conditions on the Grand Motte glacier, Val Claret, remain absolutely awesome! A foot of fresh snow fell earlier in the week and the sun has been shining.

The white stuff has properly arrived now in Tignes, and the snow line is now well below Tignes Les Boisses as you can see by this picture of our terrace at Chalet Hotel Les Melezes.

We’ve still got a few spaces left on the Edge2edge Ski & Board Camp, but only up until 9^th November – so get yourself out if you possibly can and don’t miss out on the amazing early season conditions we’re enjoying!!

Tignes - Glacier re-opens

The Grande Motte glacier re-opened on Sat 25th Sept 2010, & our first guests arrived for Autumn Ski & Board Camp 2010.

What a brilliant weekend we had!

These shots were taken on Sunday & Monday by our reservations team Jo & Jude who had nipped over to Tignes for the weekend & are now back in the UK ready to take your bookings!

The weather on Saturday was poor (strong winds & poor visibility) but most of our guests braved the elements & enjoyed the slopes regardless.

Saturday evening’s 7 course celebration gala dinner was outstanding (congrats to our chef Roger!).

Waking up on Sunday morning with the clouds surrounding Les Melezes wasn’t inspiring but the webcams on the glacier showed clear blue skies. When we had ascended the Funiculare into bright warm sunshine, the view from 3200m was amazing! Clouds nestling in the mountain valleys below were a spectacular sight, & the feeling of being so high was surreal.

A great day with perfect snow (topped up by an overnight snow flurry) & sunshine.

Monday’s conditions on the glacier repeated Sunday’s perfect day, & completed a superb weekend ski break for our guests.
