It’s hard to believe that the summer that never was has flown by, & the 2008-09 ski season is already underway. This weekend saw the launch of the Edge2edge Ski & Board Camp at Chalet Hotel Les Melezes, & MountainSun kicked it all off in great style with a wonderful party weekend!

On Saturday 27^th September the Grand Motte glacier re-opened and we got up ridiculously early to catch the furnicular up the mountain before the public, by special arrangement with lift company STGM. After a glass of bubbly to celebrate, we enjoyed exclusive first tracks of the season. It could not have been a more perfect day:- cold temperatures meant the snow was in excellent condition & we were lucky with blue skies & fairly quiet slopes. A delicious plat de jour at the Panoramic Restaurant washed down with a nice cold beer, followed by an afternoon of more skiing/boarding, made it a truly memorable day. Fabulous to be back on snow again! AND on brand new kit too, supplied from Edge2edge’s test stock.

By 4pm we were enjoying scrumptious cakes back at the chalet, & relieving tense muscles in the hot tub.

Celebrations continued in the evening with a special Gala Dinner. Chef, Roger, really did himself proud! The staff served up a feast starting with champagne cocktails and canapés served in the bar, followed by a 5 course meal in the restaurant, ending with coffee and handmade chocolates at well after midnight.

What a party!  And what a way to start off the season!
